Crabby Cake Creations founder, Melinda Smith, started decorating cakes through the 4-H Cake Decorating project when she was 7 years old.
Melinda grew up in Tuolumne County, CA where she participated in the local county fairs by entering the Cake Decorating competition.  Throughout the years she would bring home several Best of Show awards.
As Melinda got older and went off to college, her cake decorating got put on the back burner.  It wasn’t until several years later, in 2003, that Melinda landed a job as the Cake Decorator for The Pastry Garden in Hattiesburg, MS.  During her time there, Melinda fine tuned her decorating techniques and also learned pastry skills.
Melinda currently resides in Fairfield, CA with her husband and daughter.  She is the volunteer Cake Decorating leader for the Westwind 4-H Club where she teaches 4-H members the basics of cake decorating.  At this time, Melinda is working out of her home taking small orders for birthday/wedding cakes, pastries and dipped fruits/candies.

  1. Dear Crabby Cake Creations,
My husband and I own a new bakery cafe in El Segundo, California, called David Schat’s Bakery Cafe. I found you on Twitter and I am hoping you can help us. We are in need of a trained, talented, and experienced pastry chef and cake decorator! Even though we are here in the Los Angeles area, I am hoping you may have some contacts down here. Please let me know if you have any people in the LA area that are looking for a job or if you know anyone we can contact who can help us search for a pastry chef and cake decorator. Finding the right person has been quite a challenge!
Thank you for your time. Hope to hear from you soon!
    Carrie Schat
